Who We Are
Barun Sengupta, the eminent journalist, started “BARTAMAN”; a Bengali Newspaper, on 7th December, 1984 from Kolkata. BARTAMAN, from its inception, was focussed on news, mainly, from and for the South Bengal districts. This was because there were a representation gap of the South Bengal districts in other media. Kolkata, being a metro, was fairly represented and North Bengal was little too far off to be catered properly from Kolkata. From its inception, BARTAMAN fought against the ruling party for its misdeeds and high-handed attitude. The relentless wrath of the ruling party couldn’t shake the conviction of BARTAMAN and its protagonist to be truthful and fearless. This in a nutshell is what we are and what is expected of us. This unbroken practice of making a newspaper credible has taken BARTAMAN to its present height. The Bartaman group is now adorned by BARTAMAN the 2nd Largest Bengali Daily, SAPTAHIK BARTAMAN the largest weekly Bengali Family Magazine, SUKHI GRIHAKON the largest monthly Bengali Women’s Magazine, SARIR O SASTHA the Largest monthly Bengali Health Magazine and its Bengali Portals for Daily as well as Magazines. From one printing station at Kolkata, Bartaman now has Two Printing presses at Kolkata, one each in Siliguri, Burdwan & Panskura. Digital Media has taken root in India and West Bengal. This is coupled with its Portals and Mobile App BARTAMAN are all set for the future media. All our endeavors are laced with this conviction “Truth Prevails”.
